My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero tells Noise11.com that the band’s next album won’t just be a “collection of songs.” He says the band is planning another concept-heavy record and is currently building their own studio in Los Angeles to record their fifth album. The group has hinted that the follow-up to 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys could be out by the end of this year, so we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

NME.com reports that two Radiohead sings are to be reworked into classical compositions. Renowned minimalist composer Steve Reich is set to rework “Everything In Its Right Place” off Kid A and “Jigsaw Falling Into Place” from In Rainbows. The project is called Radio Rewrite and will be performed by 13 musicians from the London Sinfonietta on March 5^th, 2013. Radiohead plays Miami, Florida on February 27^th.

Blink 182 man Mark Hoppus told Kerrang that he is working on new songs for the band which will likely appear on the follow-up to 2011’s Neighborhoods. Hoppus is creating on the new sounds alone at the moment as fellow bandmate Tom Delonge tours with his other band, Angels and Airwaves.  Mark said, “By the time it goes to Tom and Travis and we work on it as a band, who knows what it will sound like.” We’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Theory of a Deadman have announced the dates for their 2012 US tour, which kicks off April 9 in Tallahassee, Florida. Fans will be the first to purchase tickets on February 1; while the general public will be able to buy tickets for most of the dates beginning on February 3. Additional dates will be announced shortly.

Theory of a Deadman has been together for over a decade and created a sound that fans have embraced throughout the world, on albums like the platinum Scars & Souvenirs (2008), Gasoline(2005), and Theory of a Deadman (2002).

Eddie Vedder is set to head out on a solo tour this spring. The Pearl Jam singer will kick off the 13-date trek on April 11^th in Las Vegas. He’ll also be working on a new Pearl Jam album this year and touring with the band. Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard says they are all still grateful to be in a band together. Tickets for the Eddie Vedder solo tour go on sale on February 3^rd.

Chris Cornell recently spoke to Australian radio station Triple M about the upcoming Soundgarden album. The singer said, “It sounds like Soundgarden, but I wouldn’t say it’s similar. I think there are parts that are gonna remind anybody of us, but we’ve always kind of progressed from album to album. So it’s definitely not a throwback.” No word as to when the new Soundgarden album will be released, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Nickelback are using Twitter as a way to respond to their haters. The band has been responding to tons of negative comments on the social networking site. Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard appeared at the comedy festival SF Sketchfest over the weekend. The singer performed some songs saying that he was the “emo relief” between all the funny guys. He even performed a version of the Village People’s “YMCA” to the tune of U2’s “With or Without You.” Gibbard told Rolling Stone, “If people only knew me by the songs that I write, I think people wouldn’t assume that I have a sense of humor. But I think most people would be surprised how a lot of musicians that you would not think were really funny- and I’m not including myself in this, I’m just saying in general- are really f**king funny.”

Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine says that she is inspired by the art world when she makes music. The singer told I-DOnline.com, “My second single was inspired by Ugo Rondinone’s art installation on the Southbank, which literally just said ‘the dog days are over,’ so I get a lot of inspiration from art.” Welch says that she always gets a strong visual sense when she writes songs, explaining, “I feel that music is similar to being a translator; you have to describe what the chords and the drum patterns are saying.”

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor and percussionist M. Shawn Crahan are headed to the Sundance Film Festival to unveil their new film production company. Rolling Stone reports that Living Breathing Films will be making music befitting Slipknot’s music and aesthetic. Crahan says, “Our movies are going to be psychological. They’re going to affect you….If I haven’t got someone to leave in five minutes for at least one of my films then I’m not doing my job.” Crahan says he hopes to eventually direct and Taylor hopes to write and star in their films. We’ll keep you posted on their progress!

Rolling Stone reports that The Decemberists will release a concert album this year. We All Raise Our Voices to the Air (Live Songs 04.11-08.11) is the band’s first ever full-length live album and it comes out on March 13^th. The set will feature songs from their entire back catalogue, which were recorded at 12 different concerts last year. The album will come out as a 20-track download, 2-disc CD package and triple vinyl set.

In 2009, Alice in Chains released Black Gives Way to Blue, their first album in 14 years.  So are we going to have to wait that long for its follow-up?  It doesn’t seem that way.  Guitarist Jerry Cantrell told Rolling Stone magazine that they started writing a new album in 2010 but he had shoulder surgery which delayed things, though he said they’ve been writing throughout his recovery.  He added that they plan to record early this year.  No word on when the album might come out but when we find out, we will definitely let you know!

Red Hot Chili Peppers are postponing the start of their upcoming U-S tour due to multiple foot injuries sustained by frontman Anthony Kiedis. The singer just underwent surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a flexor tendon in his foot.
