IT’S TIME TO HELP THE CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY WITH TOYS ON PATROL!

PODS of Rochester, Toys On Patrol, The Rochester Police Department and The Zone @ 94.1 have joined forces to help local kids! 

Just look for the bright white PODS container this Saturday at The Eastview Mall from 10am-2pm and bring a new toy!!

Rochester Police Officers will be armed with a new tool to reach out to the community: toys.

“It’s not a cure for a disease, it’s not a cure for what they’re going through, but it does allow them to be a child.”” said Gary the Happy Pirate of the Pirate Toy Fund.

The goal of Toys on Patrol is to leave a positive impact on children who interact with police.  Many of those children are dealing with very difficult circumstances.

As part of Toys on Patrol, four chests full of toys are set up at Rochester Police divisions. Officers hope it will give them an opportunity to bring cheer, and a smile, to a child in an unpleasant situation.

Gary the Happy Pirate’s “Pirate Toy Fund” and the Badge of Honor Society are supplying and packing the toys.

Local company Mayer Hardware made a donation to get the drive going. Organizers say Toys on Patrol is already a success.

The Pirate Toy Fund accepts toy donations all year long.

Back in 2002, the Foo Fighters released their fourth studio album, “One By One”. What a lot of people don’t know is that the band spent four months and a million dollars in a L.A studio in the year prior, working on an album that would never see the light of day. The band ultimately scrapped the “Million Dollar Demo” recordings because they “didn’t sound right“, recording what would become “One By One” at Dave Grohl’s home studio instead. Now, as both KROQ and AntiQuiet are reporting, those demos have started to surface.

Two tracks from these sessions, “Have It All” and “Come Back”, have found their way onto YouTube. And while Foos fans, will be familiar with the songs from “One By One”, the way they sound in these demos (which sound near-finished) is quite different from how they turned out on the final album.

Just days after their awesome performance in Rochester, at the Carolina Rebellion festival this past Saturday, founding Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch, who split with the group in 2005, rejoined his former band onstage to play the opening song off their 1994 self-titled debut, “Blind.” Now Korn have released photos of the group and the guitarist hanging out together backstage.

Welch left the band due to problems with drugs and alcohol, as well as a desire to turn his life over to religion. He currently leads his own group, Love & Death.

“It was so amazing Saturday night playin’ with Korn,” Welch said. “Reconciling with family is always good. So much love on stage and from Korn fans. Many tears shed. God is love.” You can check out footage of the performance below.

Chris Cornell estimates that Soundgarden’s forthcoming studio album, their first with new material since 1996′s Down on the Upside, was 75 percent done when the recently-reunited Seattle grunge heroes were first asked to help contribute to the soundtrack for Joss Whedon’s new superhero film, The Avengers. “It was the last song that was written,” Cornell tells Rolling Stone of ”Live to Rise,” the soundtrack’s opener, which is available for free download on iTunes, and the first new Soundgarden song to be released in 15 years. 

Cornell says Soundgarden’s yet-to-be-titled album will be mastered in a week’s time so, in his mind, “it’s done. It’ll be out in probably October,” he says. “I would say September but I’m just guessing October. We’re pretty much done with everything.” “Live to Rise,” a riff-heavy rocker, while not necessarily representative of the entire album’s sound, the singer says, would “work just fine on it.”

Last evening at the Holywood Bowl, Coldplay performed a cover of “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)” in tribute to the passing of Beastie Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch.

Jack White scored his first No. 1 album ever on Wednesday as his debut solo “Blunderbuss” topped the Billboard 200.

“Blunderbuss,” which sold 138,000 copies notched seven top ten albums with his former band The White Stripes and side projects the Dead Weather and The Raconteurs.

Jack’s Mannequin has unveiled a new video for “Release Me,” available below.

It’s from the band’s 2011 effort People And Things.

P.O.D. are releasing the song “Lost in Forever” from their new album, Murdered Love, tomorrow on iTunes, but you can stream it below today. For the album, the group worked with producer Howard Benson (Theory of a Deadman, My Chemical Romance), and it will release the release date for the record tonight on Twitter.

Jack White has signed on to write, produce and perform the score for a forthcoming remake of The Lone Ranger by Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. 

The Lone Ranger will be directed by Gore Verbinski and will star Armie Hammer – best known for his turn as both Winklevoss twins in The Social Network – as the title character, and Johnny Depp as his sidekick, Tonto.

“We’re going to have a little rock & roll score, and I can’t wait to hear his rendition of the ‘William Tell Overture,’” Bruckheimer said of White’s involvement.

Sublime With Rome have announced plans to tour with Cypress Hill and Pepper this summer. Official tour dates will be posted soon. The band’s latest album, Yours Truly, is in stores now.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has announced the postponement of his spring solo tour due to temporary nerve damage in his right arm resulting from a recent back injury. One show, a planned appearance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, has been cancelled entirely.

“After having worked aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled,” Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis explained in a statement. “There was hope up until the last minute that the treatments would be successful.”

Green Day announced earlier yesterday that they will be releasing three albums in the course of the upcoming months. 

The trilogy of albums are titled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!. The band are currently recording in Oakland, California with long-time producer Rob Cavallo. 

The release dates are as follows: September 25th 2012,  November 13th 2012, and January 15th 2013.

After Three Years of Studio Work, The Offspring Finally Complete New Album

The California-based punk band The Offspring have been meticulously constructing their ninth studio album for more than three years now. The follow up to 2008?s Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace has been an extensive journey, but frontman Dexter Holland recently announced that the album is officially finished.

Although The Offspring began conceptualizing their ninth studio album in 2009, the artistic process and touring schedule naturally slowed the album’s completion. Now, after hitting the studio in February to start mixing, the project is finally complete.

“Leaving the studio in Hollywood now. The record is finished. – Dexter,” tweeted frontman Dexter Holland earlier this week.

Rob Zombie and his band will enter the studio on June 1st to begin recording Zombie’s fifth solo studio effort and his first since 2010′s Hellbilly Deluxe 2. The new, yet-to-be-titled CD is set for a late 2012 release. Zombie said in a statement, “It has been way, and I mean way too long without any new music. I am dying to get back to it. I have not felt this much excitement within the band since recording the first Hellbilly Deluxe record almost 15 years ago. We have been working on tons of songs for quite some time and I can safely say this will definitely be our best record yet.”

The new disc will feature Zombie’s current touring band lineup of John 5 on guitar, Piggy D on bass and Ginger Fish on drums. Both John and Ginger were previously with Marilyn Manson’s band.

Before going into the studio, Zombie will kick off a North American tour on May 11th in Holmdel, New Jersey, which will include stops on May 20th at Rock On The Range in Columbus, Ohio and May 26th at Rocklahoma.
